Web Development Fundamentals (4 days)

 Course Summary:

As the "foundation course” for all other web development courses (JavaScript, VBScript, Active Server Pages, XML, etc.), this class immerses students into the fundamental workings of the Internet, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and the World Wide Web (WWW).

Students will gain understanding of what exactly HTML, the WWW and the Internet are as well as get a look at their history, evolution and future.  The complete web site development process (planning, designing, developing, testing & deploying) is covered in detail.

Students will learn how a web browser interprets the commands (tags) of an HTML document to produce a rich, interactive web page.  HTML tags for: hyperlinks, images, the use of color, text formatting, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, frames, form development, search engines, and more are covered in-depth.

The class also begins to expose students to what lies beyond HTML such as Cascading Style Sheets, client-side programming using JavaScript and Dynamic HTML (DHTML).


 Intended Audience:

This class is intended for entry-level web page authors who wish to begin to develop their own HTML web pages.  Those wishing to learn other web technologies such as JavaScript, ASP, XML, etc. will find this class essential as a foundation to build upon.


 Prerequisites:

To ensure an effective learning environment, it is imperative that students meet minimum course prerequisites.

This course requires:

  • While no HTML/Internet experience is required, Basic Word Processing Skills are crucial.
